Welcome to The Autistic Poet!
My name is Andrew and I live in Staffordshire, UK. I was diagnosed as autistic at the age of 42 and have spent the last six years coming to terms with what that means. I am still learning about all aspects of autism through research and by talking to others. I am married and have two children, both boys. This site exists to inform people about autism and to hopefully help other autistic adults by sharing my experiences.

Life can be challenging for everyone but for those on the spectrum there are certain situations where we feel particularly uncomfortable.
Individuals are of course unique but there are traits which are common to autistic people.
I struggle with change, crowds and bright and flashing lights. When I get overwhelmed or stressed I will get upset, angry and shut down. To combat this, I run most days and I have found writing poems so useful. I would love to share some of these with you! A x
